Not Many Folks Know this but…
Buying cheesecloth is not like buying sheets – the higher the number doesn’t mean the better the cloth. Very high thread count cloths like Grade 90 are delicate and fragile. Great for wiping baby’s face and taking off makeup but not great in your hard-working kitchen.
We could put you to sleep talking about warp and weft and yarn size but trust us – we tested hundreds of cloths before selecting the perfect one for culinary use. Our cheesecloth has a yarn size and thread count that delivers great straining, cutting, cleaning, and durability.
Who is Country Trading Co.?
We are a small family business, and we know one end of a kitchen from the other. We make everything from scratch and back in 2012, we started developing a culinary-grade organic cheesecloth to take the strain. One that we could cut and wash without it disintegrating.
At home in our kitchen, we make cheese and yogurt, brew beer, kombucha, and ferment vegetables, cure bacon, make jams and jellies. This is a fantastic quality cloth that does the job. We really hope you enjoy using it and reusing it in your kitchens as much as we do. We pack it in a plastic-free cardboard box with some of our favorite recipes printed inside.
This large 1.5m x 1.0m Certified Organic Cheesecloth is Perfect for:
- Draining cheese curd
- Filtering bone broth
- Straining nut milk
- Making Greek yogurt
- Filtering Cold Brew Coffee
- Fruit jellies and preserves
- Kombucha and Craft Beer
- Straining Vegetable Juice
- Steeping hops for beer
- Making spice bags
- Squeezing lemons
.... we could go on - we're still learning new things our customers use this cloth for.
Where does this cheesecloth end up? Not in land fill
When it gets a bit tired after many uses in the kitchen, we move it to the garden basket for use as a seed saving and seed sorting cloth. We also use it in the workshop and garage for cleaning and polishing. When we're finally finished with it, we compost it.
