When steeped, our fragrant First Leaves release a delicate balance of rich depth and subtle sweetness that creates its treasured umami flavor.

On Japan’s central Pacific Coast, the green hills of Fuji City, Shizuoka provide the rich, fertile soil where the finest tea leaves in the world grow. Well-named, ‘Shizu’ means tranquil and ‘oka,’ hills. Their lush vegetation is fed by streams flowing from the great northern mountains, including majestic Mt. Fuji. The singular blend of abundant sunshine, mild seasons, ideal rainfall and coastal fog, create the perfect climate for our exceptional Yabukita to flourish.

Japanese green tea typically contains 60% antioxidants, compared to Chinese green tea being around 14-16% typically. It has a grassier taste, compared to the bolder taste of Chinese green tea. Lastly, Japanese green tea is process by steaming the leaves, whereas Chinese green tea is often processed through pan-frying.

Our tea's nuanced flavor comes from the fact that we use only the leaves from the spring harvest's first flush, when the tea is at its highest quality.
